Doggie Bags & Etiquette

by Sage, the dog on April 15, 2010

Doggie Etiquette is a lot less strict than business etiquette. I eat everything I can when I go out to eat. Of course, I’m not too picky. I do nose around in our garbage sometimes. Julie usually puts up with my eating eccentricities, but the other day she got mad when I showed up with someone’s barbequed ribs in my mouth. And after watching this video, she surely won’t be taking me to any business meetings because doggie bags are faux pas! (And so are stealing ribs I’ve learned.)

You know what I think about doggie bags – it should be mandatory they are taken home to pets. So what do you think about doggie bags?

Woof,

Sense your load

by Sage, the dog on April 9, 2010

Several weeks ago I went to the ranch with Beef. It was great fun, but when I got home I was tired and my feet were sore. We’d been moving cows for about 13 hours and it tuckered me out.

The next day when Julie took a walk, I stayed home. I’m pretty lucky because when I’m tired I can rest. The people around me can sense the load I’m carrying and adjust their expectations of me accordingly. I don’t have to learn time management techniques like you do; I just take life as it happens.

Being able to “sense your own load,” is a good skill to learn. It is really just a time management technique. Julie realized this last week when two things happened; 1) she didn’t write on my blog, and 2) she got a new washer and dryer.

Giving Great Customer Service is like Scratching Your Dog’s Belly

March 25, 2010

It’s a windy day here in Southern Utah, so I’m lounging on the floor while Julie types on her computer. When she takes a break, she scratches my belly. She knows I like it, and it rewards me for keeping her company.
Great customer service is like scratching your dog’s belly. It rewards your customers with [...]

Understand your Dog to Better Understand your Customers

March 22, 2010

“Yips are different from Arfs.” Understanding your dog’s different barks is important in trying to understand what he or she is telling you.
For example, I sleep in our garage on a beanbag. (Julie would like me to sleep in the house and Bill would like me to stay outside – most of the time. [...]

Tail Wags!

March 17, 2010

I love to meet dogs and people. In person is better than on the internet because I am a dog and noses don’t work too well on computer screens.  But I like to hear Julie talk about what’s happening on my blog.
One thing we want to do is make this a community site and promote [...]

Happy Dogs are Understood Dogs

March 15, 2010

Happy dogs are well fed, healthy, and secure. Being understood is a form of security for dogs. For instance, I hate the cold. When I want to come inside, I jump on our back door. Someone will hear me and let me in. Sometimes, however, I will jump on the backdoor because I want to [...]

The Hidden Life of Dogs: A Book Review

March 12, 2010

Julie loves to read. I like it when she reads. I get to curl up on the couch next to her and snuggle. She sometimes reads out loud. I usually don’t understand what she’s saying. This time I understood her.
The Hidden Life of Dogs is a Quick Read
She was reading The Hidden Life Of Dogs [...]

What ‘Calling Cards’ do You Leave?

March 11, 2010

Watch a dog take a walk. She’ll discover great things with her nose. Things you don’t even see! If it’s something extra ‘special,’ she’ll mark it for the next dog who comes along.
I can spend a long time sniffing out the great spots other dogs have marked. Their ‘marks’ tell me a lot about them [...]

Change Your Thinking to Change Your Results

March 10, 2010

The other day a cloud settled over the little valley where we live. It was interesting to walk and only be able to see several yards ahead. Julie commented on how cool a gate looked in the fog. This thought got Julie and I discussing ‘thinking ruts.’

Change Your View to Change Your Thinking.
‘Thinking ruts’ are [...]

Listen Before You Leap

March 9, 2010

Today is another rainy day in Southern Utah. We’ve gotten about three times as much rain this year as we ever get. I am not a water dog. I don’t like to get wet, and I don’t like the wind. I have short hair that is perfect for those long, hot days chasing cows. When [...]
